5 stars for the price and how awesome they look. However, has a strong lingering chemical/rubber smell and came coated in a light film of "oil?". But awesome weights and great price
So far really liking the set. I got it for hip thrusts due to the elevation on the plates.. fits the standard bar bell. The did have strong rubber smell that went away after about a day.
Picked these up for a home gym setup and they’ve been a really solid option so far, especially for the price. The weight accuracy seems well within tolerance for beginner use, and they fit my 2-inch barbell without any issues. They also look great! The speckled design adds a lot more character compared to standard bumper or even iron plates.
One thing I didn’t expect was how quiet they are. Makes a big difference for late night workouts since there’s less noise when loading and unloading. Especially with a 8 week old in the house. For around $1 per pound, it was honestly hard to find anything cheaper, even locally.
There are a couple minor downsides. The 10 lb plates feel a bit less rigid than I’d prefer, and the smoother, flush design can make the heavier plates a little tricky to pick up off the ground if they’re laying flat. Not a big issue if you’re using a plate rack, but something to be aware of.
Compared to something like Rogue bumpers, these obviously aren’t on that level in terms of build or durability, but they’re also a fraction of the price. Overall, great option for beginners or anyone putting together a budget-friendly home gym.
Overall these are nice starter bumper plates. Upon inspection they arrived as pictured. However, after the first use for deadlifts the speckled paint came off immediately where there was friction. Which makes sense but if you bought these for the speckled look then don't expect it to last forever. It's been two weeks and the oil smell and feel is still evident. Moreover, the metal core of the10 lb plate slightly detached from the rubber so it got stuck on the bar. They will get the job done but not professional grade.
