UPDATE: without instructions it was hard to tell which way to wear this. Review photos showed some wearing it with the tracker on the outside of the wrist and some showed it on the inside. I figured pulse points would be best so I wore it for a week with the tracker on the inside. BIG MISTAKE. What I thought was itchy from being tight (noted in my original review below) turned out to be burn marks on my skin from the electrodes/battery/whatever. Eventually I could feel what felt like little stings. See the last pic. I have turned it to the outside after zooming way in on listing pics and testing to see if it tracked that way and after a full day it’s been good. I wanted to note this for anyone unsure like I was. DO NOT wear it on your pulse point!! INSTRUCTIONS would alleviate this problem. Minus another star.
I decided to try this “cheap” tracker to see if I’d really use it enough to buy a more expensive one. At just under $20, it was a decent deal for my purposes. I really just wanted to track sleep and steps because I don’t carry my phone every second of the day and was having a hard time tracking my steps.
It was easy enough to set up after downloading the app. I’ve used it for a few days now, and have noticed a few things. The app is actually for a RING type tracker, but it works with this bracelet too, although not very well.
The sleep tracking is crap so far. I wake up a lot, and am sometimes up for hours, so I wanted to keep track. I worked late one night, went to bed at 12:45, woke up from 4-6, and then slept til 11 and the tracker gave me 99 sleep score for sleeping from 12:45 to 8:30. Another night I was in bed by 10, but up from 4-7, then slept again until 9:30. The tracker gave me a 69 score for sleeping from 10-4. I think once you wake up, it thinks you’re up for the day and stops tracking. Many times it makes no sense at all.
Steps appear to be over tracked. Any movement of my arm increases my step count. I had to move it from my dominant hand because brushing my hair or wiping the counters gave me steps. I have it connected to another app along with a pedometer app and apple health as well so I’m hoping they all give me close to my actual steps.
It’s not terribly comfortable; it has to be on pretty tight to work properly, and it gets itchy like tight elastic on my wrist. I take it off several times a day just to itch my wrist for 5 minutes.
Side note: this comes with basically zero instructions other than how to charge and where to download the app.
I gave it 2 stars cuz it’s inexpensive (you get what you pay for), and I guess it will give me an idea whether I want to purchase a better one after wearing this one a while, which was my goal. It’ll end up in the trash tho, which I don’t like much at all.
